Sometimes I set out with a really clear idea of what I want to photograph.
I rarely set out thinking ‘Today I want to take a picture of a really fierce-looking cat, guarding a clock tower with no clock.’
On the day that I took the above photo, I’d visited Peel to take some landscape shots, around the castle and the hill. I was walking along Lake Lane, when I suddenly had the distinct feeling that I was being watched. I looked up at the top of a high garden wall, and saw the forbidding trio of the cat, the tower, and the clouds. All as unreadable as each other.
I managed to get some landscape pictures taken before the cloud deposited its contents all over the city; but this is the picture from that day that I keep returning to.
